Wissam Ben Yedder was the hero for Sevilla, bagging a double after coming as a sub in the shock 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford - a result that knocked Jose Mourinho's side out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage.

In one of the worst games in recent memory, Frenchman Ben Yedder, after being brought on in 72nd minute, scored a brilliantly taken goal in the 74th minute before capitalising on some slack United defending on a corner to add a second four minutes later.

Romelu Lukaku pulled one back six minutes from time but it was never going to be anything but a consolation as United crashed out following a drab, turgid display.

After the game, an incredible stat involving the two goalscorers in tonight's game has been doing the rounds. With his two strikes tonight, Ben Yedder has now scored five goals against top six Premier League sides - having struck three times against Liverpool across two group games.

Lukaku has just one - that coming against former club Chelsea in a 2-1 win last month.

Talk about making an instant impact! Luis Muriel was anonymous throughout tonight but Ben Yedder did the business when he came on and should have had a hat-trick late on when a tame one-on-one effort was saved by David De Gea late on.

Here's what the rest of social media had to say about Ben Yedder's brilliance:
