Liverpool fans confront Jeremy Jacquet in street after Fulham game

Jeremy Jacquet was confronted by Liverpool fans as he left Anfield following the club's goalless draw against Fulham - and footage of the incident has since emerged on social media.

The 21-year-old defender, who joined Liverpool from Rennes this summer, could be seen getting out of his car on Saturday afternoon to speak to the supporters.

Journalist Keefe Irwin filmed the scene, claiming Jacquet 'received abuse' from Liverpool fans for not stopping for children. The centre-back eventually got back into his vehicle after a brief conversation.

As many were quick to point out, it would have been unsafe for Jacquet to stop in traffic to pose for pictures or sign merchandise for supporters.

Plenty of fans have defended the French defender, with one saying: "There is a time and a place and it’s not there." A second wrote: "You want him to stop there and potentially get a talking to by police. It's a dangerous place to stop."

On the pitch, Jacquet was arguably Liverpool's best performer on Saturday. He saved Alisson's blushes with an impressive goalline clearance after the goalkeeper played a loose pass to Ryan Gravenberch.

He received a Sofascore rating of 8.5, with some of his top stats including five recoveries and two clearances. The defender also won all five of his aerial duels.

Iraola made three Liverpool changes from their 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in midweek, with Kostas Tsimikas, Ryan Gravenberch and Victor Munoz coming in for Milos Kerkez, Alexis Mac Allister and Rio Ngumoha.

One of the big talking points has been their limited options at full-back.

Ronald Araujo started at right-back for the third game running but his struggles going forward were exposed on several occasions, while Kostas Tsimikas hooked at the break after a poor first-half display.

Iraola, meanwhile, believes their lack of firepower going forward was to blame for the result against Fulham.

"I think what was lacking was quite clear," he said post-match. "I think it's the first game since I'm here that we've had problems to create chances to score goals, to make the difference offensively.

"That's the main reason that we couldn't create as many chances as we wanted. We haven't scored a goal and that's why we go with just one point."
