Barcelona record-setter worth more than Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi combined after huge club decision

Barcelona wonderkid Hamza Abdelkarim is now officially worth more than both Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi combined after signing a bumper new contract.

Abdelkarim, 18, has had a remarkable 2026, which has seen him become the youngest player from Egypt to play at a World Cup and make his senior debut for Barcelona.

He has already been tipped as a successor to Mohamed Salah in Egypt's national team - and he is now set to stay at Barcelona for years to come.

Barcelona wonderkid's new contract explained

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Abdelkarim has been given a 'significant salary increase' and a new release clause as part of his new contract.

The 18-year-old is said to have finalised his new deal in the space of two meetings with Barcelona executives, who wanted to ward off any interest from other elite clubs after fielding enquiries in the summer.

His new release clause is said to stand at a staggering €150 million which means that, in terms of his current value, he is worth almost double the value of new signing Anthony Gordon.

Gordon is estimated to be worth €90 million by CIES' Football Observatory, up around €10 million from the fee Barca paid to sign him from Newcastle in the summer following an impressive start to life in Spain.

Adeyemi, who the England winger replaced off the bench during Barca's 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord, has an estimated value of €40 million as per Transfermarkt.

Abdelkarim's release clause previously stood at €15 million, representing an increase of 900 per cent.

Manager Hansi Flick's faith in Abdelkarim was shown by the fact that he was rewarded with a place on the substitutes' bench for the aforementioned victory over Feyenoord on Wednesday.

The Egyptian was an unused substitute but his time will surely come to make his Champions League debut for Barca.

He played in four out of five of Egypt's World Cup matches, all from the bench. Abdelkarim then had a full role in Barca's pre-season campaign, scoring four goals.

He was rewarded by being brought on in the 87th minute of Barca's 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano on August 31 for what was his senior debut. In doing so, the 18-year-old became the first player from Egypt to make a competitive appearance for Les Cules.

The Spanish giants spent just €1.5 million to sign him from Egyptian side Al Ahly at the beginning of the summer. He had spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan with Barca's U19 side, with Flick promoting him to the first team following his permanent move.

After Egypt's World Cup exit to Argentina at the last 16 stage, Abdelkarim opted not to take a holiday in order to join up with Barca - on the advice of Salah.

He told Egypt's OnSport: "Mohamed Salah is always talking to me, and I follow everything he says. He is an example to be followed, and the success he achieved is not by accident."
