'Pioli Out' Is Trending In Italy Before Stefano Pioli Has Been Appointed AC Milan Manager

Stefano Pioli should stay off Twitter. The Italian isn't even manager of AC Milan yet but already 'Pioli Out' is trending on social media, with fans unhappy at the upcoming appointment.

After a poor start to the season Milan manager Marco Giampaolo is expected to be sacked in the next day or so and the Rossoneri are also thought to have lined up Pioli as his replacement.

That second piece of news hasn't gone down well with fans who have made 'PioliOut' become the number one trend in Italy.

The 53-year-olds most recent appointment was at Fiorentina. He joined the team in June 2017 and resigned in April this year and has been without a club since.

Whilst he was in Florence the club finished eighth and 16th in Serie A, although Vincenzo Montella did oversee a poor end to last season that saw them plunge closer to relegation.

The former Inter boss wasn't Milan's first choice to take over the reigns with the San Siro side initially going after the most recent Inter manager to leave, Luciano Spalletti.

Spalletti led the Nerazzurri to fourth last season, finishing a point above local rivals Milan, and qualified for the Champions League this season.

He was sacked at the end of the season and replaced by Antonio Conte but is still technically under contract with Inter and he couldn't agree a severance package with the club, despite reportedly already agreeing a deal with Milan.

Milan actually won their most recent game, beating Genoa 2-1, but have had a poor start to the season and currently sit in 13th place with three wins and four losses from seven games.

The team have had four sendings off in the last five games, only avoiding a red card in the Milan derby, although they lost that match 2-0.

How long can Pioli last in the job when Giampaolo has only been in charge since June and there's a Twitter campaign to get rid of the new man before he's even in the job.
