Chelsea wonderkid could consider shock January exit after playing just seven Premier League minutes

Estevão is reportedly already considering his future at Chelsea just a day after the summer transfer window closed.

The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Premier League, but reportedly has concerns over his lack of playing time under head coach Xabi Alonso.

Estevão missed the end of last season and the 2026 World Cup due to a hamstring injury and, now that he is fully fit, finds himself on the fringes of the Chelsea first team. It has been suggested that he could look to leave Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window if his situation does not improve.

Estevão considers January exit from Chelsea

It is understood that Estevão is 'concerned' about his current role in the Chelsea squad following Alonso's appointment during the summer.

The Brazilian teenager made a brief seven-minute cameo during the closing stages of Chelsea's opening-weekend win over Fulham in the Premier League and was an unused substitute as they defeated Brighton last time out. He did make a start as part of a heavily rotated side against Luton Town in the Carabao Cup, but is not expected to get many more opportunities over the coming weeks.

ESPN Brasil claims that, with Chelsea absent from European competition this season, Estevão fears he will be frozen out of the starting XI because of the reduced fixture list, with less need for rotation in the attacking positions.

It is also claimed that, if his playing time does not improve with meaningful minutes soon, the teenager could look to leave Chelsea on loan during the winter transfer window.

A position switch could change his fortunes

The report claims Estevão would prefer to play in a central attacking role, but faces strong competition from Cole Palmer and club-record signing Morgan Rogers for that position.

It has been suggested that he could challenge Pedro Neto for a starting role on the right wing, but he is reportedly reluctant to do so because of the demands Alonso places on his wingers.

The teenager supposedly believes he would need to bulk up to play in a wide role at Premier League level, and that doing so could affect his style of play. It is claimed the youngster fears that adding muscle mass to his frame would hamper his natural agility and make him less dynamic in the forward line.

However, with opportunities set to be limited during the first half of the season, Estevão might soon realise that his options for securing regular minutes will be to embrace the proposed position change or look to seal a loan move early next year.
