Jake Paul has sensationally claimed his team are in talks with Conor McGregor regarding a future fight between the pair.

YouTuber Paul, who moved his boxing record to 2-0 when he savagely knocked out Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson's exhibition against Roy Jones Jr, wasted no time in calling out Conor McGregor afterwards.

Most laughed at the idea of Paul fighting a genuine, elite, combat sports athlete - but the 23-year-old has claimed that talks are ongoing. He also promised to "f**k Conor McGregor up" on his interview with TMZ Sports.

"My team is talking to his manager but that's all I'll say," Paul began... before then going on to say a whole lot more.

"No other fighter with this big of a platform is calling out McGregor. My dogs have more followers than the guy he's fighting in January."

Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier, who McGregor is facing at UFC 257 in early 2021, actually has 1.7 million followers on Instagram. Jake's dogs, Lil Moo and Thor, have 1.6 million followers, while Paul himself is closing in on 14 million.

However the fact that Poirier is a highly respected, world-class MMA lightweight and Jake Paul, well, isn't should perhaps also factor into the equation. However 'The Problem Child' - who recently said he wants to become the new Floyd Mayweather - insists it's a case of "when" not "if" he fights Conor.

"I'm gonna win, too!" he told TMZ. "That's what I want people to understand!"

I'm gonna dedicate my life to winning that fight, because I'm not going in there just to say I did it - I'm going in there to f**k Conor McGregor up."

At least Paul has backing - of a kind - from Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. The man who put on the Logan Paul vs KSI show in 2019 claims Jake Paul vs McGregor would be "a lot more competitive" than Conor vs Mayweather was. In a boxing ring, at least.

Will we really see Jake Paul face Conor McGregor, assuming 'The Notorious' wins his rematch with Poirier in January? Let us know in the comments.
