New Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury boycott threat made by Eddie Hearn despite official announcement

Eddie Hearn has made a staggering boycott threat despite the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury finally being announced.

After long, drawn-out negotiations, it was confirmed on Thursday that the pair of British heavyweights will trade leather at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, on Friday, December 11.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh made the official announcement on X, with a press release sent out featuring all major details.

Hearn, who was adamant that the fight would not take place in the United States per the terms of contracts signed, reacted by thanking the British public for their support.

Writing on X, the Matchroom chief said he is "forever indebted to the U.K. public for their support of @anthonyjoshua we couldn’t have got this over the line without you".

But while the mouthwatering bout between the former world champions is a done deal, Hearn is still not entirely happy.

A press conference is scheduled to take place in London on 30 September but Hearn is furious that the press release states that Dana White is collaborating with Alalshikh for the fight, which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Speaking to IFL TV, Hearn fumed: "The f***ery involved in this fight — and we'll come onto the fact that even Netflix put out a press release, 'the fight will be in conjunction with Dana White.' There's loads of battles to come on that because that ain't happening either."

Heanr added that conversations will need to take place with Netflix, commenting: "I'll be speaking to Netflix to remind them of their contractual obligations and it'll be dealt with it like we dealt with the other situation.

"These people make it very, very difficult for themselves. We're supposed to have a presser next week — now, we have stuff to sort out."

Hearn then raised major doubts about the eagerly anticipated press conference taking place as planned as he claimed multiple contract breaches.

Hearn said: "There's still stuff to sort out. We're not gonna come and do a press conference until — you got to understand, so far in the contract that we signed, there has been about six breaches.

"We keep letting these guys [get away with it]. We give them the benefit of the doubt, we act in good faith but they don't. We want to make sure everything is in order [first]. I'm going to take care of business."

Hearn has repeatedly stressed that he and Joshua would not budge from their contract stance and it appears as though issues have not been eradicated even with the fight being signed off.

Joshua and Fury have been in negotiations to fight on multiple occasions before talks fell through. Proceedings accelerated when Fury called out Joshua in the front row after his win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

Joshua refused to accept the challenge and come into the ring, telling Fury that he is "the landlord".

However, it has been widely reported that a 50-50 split has been agreed.

Without bonuses or endorsements factored in, the combined purse is said to stand at a whopping £200 million - meaning Joshua and Fury are in line for their biggest every paydays.

The blockbuster bout is poised to take place no early than 1am on fight night, with 80,000 fans set to attend in Cardiff.
