Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury set for astronomical paydays as purse details revealed

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are set to land lucrative paydays for their all-British heavyweight showdown, with reports revealing the likely purse.

It was announced on Thursday (September 24) that, at long last, the two Englishmen will come to blows at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, with the fighters expected to take to the ring at around 2am the following day to cater to American TV audiences.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh broke the news via his X account, writing: “For 15 years, no one has been able to make this fight. Back in April, I said that any announcement would come from me. “I can now confirm that Fury Vs Joshua will be coming to the UK, as I promised British boxing fans. The time for talking is over........”

This comes after Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium and London’s Wembley Stadium were both put forward as potential venues, although Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, claimed AJ had agreed to a clause in his contract meaning the fight had to be in the UK.

Negotiations have been on and off for several years, with members of both teams, including the fighters themselves, publicly calling each other out on social media.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury purses revealed

It has been widely reported that Joshua and Fury will each take a 50 per cent cut of the £200million combined purse, excluding bonuses or endorsements.

It was reported that Fury’s previous highest payday came against Oleksandr Usyk in May 2024, when he pocketed £80million. Joshua’s previous highest-earning fight came in 2025, when he reportedly earned £70million for facing Jake Paul.

A press conference is set to take place in London on September 30.

What happened the last time the pair met?

The pair last came face to face at Tottenham Stadium after Fury’s comeback fight victory against Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov, for which he received a reported £18million payday.

Fury took to the microphone to call AJ out, screaming: “I challenge you, Anthony Joshua, to fight me next. Do you accept?”

Joshua hardly moved from his ringside position, refusing to go head-to-head with Fury before saying: “I punched you up when we were kids, and I'll punch you up again.

“You aren't going to tell me what to do; I've been chasing you for 10 years.

“I'm the boss; you work for me. I'm the landlord. You work for me.”

Following the fight announcement, Joshua posted two photographs of himself wearing a white blazer with a Union Jack flag as the backdrop, accompanied by the caption: “The quietest ones often pull the strings. Those who appear least involved may hold the greatest control. Let them shout first, the wisest wait until the final move.

“Yours truly, Anthony Joshua.”

Joshua boasts a record of 30-4, with his defeats coming against Daniel Dubois, Usyk (twice) and Andy Ruiz Jr.
