Tyson Fury’s father, John, has made clear that he will not attend his son’s all-British heavyweight fight against Anthony Joshua for a simple reason.
At long last, after over a decade of fights falling off, Fury and Joshua will finally go toe to toe at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in the early hours of December 12, with the WBA ‘super’ heavyweight title on the line.
A who’s who of British celebrities and sportspeople will be in attendance, along with over 70,000 fans. But John has made it explicitly clear why he will not be at ringside and will instead wait until he finds out the result after the fight rather than watching it at all.

John Fury explains reason he won’t attend Fury vs Joshua
It has been widely publicised that John no longer wants his son to continue fighting over concerns for his health, with the 61-year-old admitting that he and his son were no longer on speaking terms after their relationship was “completely destroyed” earlier this year.

Now, John has spoken out again, explaining how he will not be at his son’s fight due to further concerns about Tyson’s health.
After claiming there’s “more chance of seeing a cow fly” than him attending the fight, he told Playbook Boxing: “I don't like the people in it, and I know accidents can happen.
“I’m not involved, so I don't want to go to the fight.
“I'll be doing what his mother does. I'll wait for somebody to tell me who wins the fight.
“I don't need validation to go to a boxing match and sit there and be an absolute spare p**** at the wedding.”
John then explained how he is “not condoning” the fight in any way, as the contest could “be dangerous”.
“There's no more I can do for Tyson," he continued.
“I look at him as a father with children, and if he gets brain damaged, it is worrying.
“If anything gets happen to him and he gets injured permanently, the money means nothing to you.
“These things can happen at their stage of their lives, it has become dangerous for him and Joshua.
“For me it is an accident waiting to happen. When you carrying on boxing too long, the inevitable could happen.”

John Fury takes aim at ‘cockroach’ brother
During the same podcast episode, John also called out his brother Peter, who previously acted as Tyson’s coach between 2012 and 2017, after he admitted he’d given Joshua some advice.
On October 1, Peter claimed that he spoke to AJ “two months ago about advice on his skill set”, before describing the Watford heavyweight as a “really nice guy”.
As you may expect, this didn’t go down well with John, who described Peter as a “cockroach” before vowing to never speak to him again.
“If he was to do that [talk to AJ] in any way, shape or form, that would make him the lowest form of human being,” John said.
“Even thinking about doing it, that makes him the biggest dog, the biggest untrustworthy dog of all time.
“If he’s going to start giving phone calls and advice, meeting in secret, giving him secret sessions, he’s a f***ing cockroach.”
