Chris Eubank Jr offers to step up to heavyweight if Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury fight collapses

Chris Eubank Jr has offered to "step in" - in the event the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight collapses.

The biggest fight in the history of British boxing was announced last week, with a December 11 date pencilled in at the Principality Stadium after long negotiations.

However, just a day on and it was reported that the fight was at a major risk of falling through.

The main sticking point has been from Joshua's side because of the involvement from UFC and Zuffa Boxing chief Dana White, with Fury claiming he and long-time promoter Eddie Hearn are "trying to pull out" of the fight.

Mike Coppinger of the Ring Magazine stated that unbeaten cruiserweight champion David Benavidez is the leading replacement to take on Fury if Joshua withdraws but it could still be a British superfight after all.

That's because Eubank Jr offered his services and revealed his availability on Monday.

He posted a video of him tipping the scales at an increased 206lbs and wrote: "If Fury vs AJ falls through… I’ll stop dieting, put the extra lbs back on & step up to the plate. Let me know boys @anthonyjoshua @Tyson_Fury."

Having not fought since his defeat to Conor Benn in November 2025, Eubank sported a larger frame. He has typically fought at middleweight and super middleweight - the highest of which was 168 lbs.

He has never fought at heavyweight but is in that weight class at present and said as much. Eubank has been rumoured to return to the ring later this year, with talk of a bout in Lagos, Nigeria in December.

Tyson Fury accused Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn of pulling out of fight

Fury took to Instagram to claim that Joshua and Hearn are threatening to withdraw as he accused them of "making up a million different things".

The Gypsy King called the duo "little s***house cowards" and branded Joshua a "bodybuilding sausage".

He claimed: “Breaking news, Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn are trying to pull out of this fight, they’re saying they’re not going to fight now, they’re little s***house cowards.

“It’s mainly to do with Eddie Hearn’s ego. They’re making up a million different things and threatening they’re not going to fight. ‘We’re not going to fight, we’re not going to fight’.

“You little coward. AJ, pull your finger out you little white-flagged, yellow belly coward.

“Now I’m coming home. The Gypsy King is coming back to the United Kingdom, to thrash you in front of all my fans in Wales.

“You absolute little nugget. Bodybuilding sausage and now you’re making a million excuses. Now you’ve got Turki Alalshikh finding alternative real men who will fight at the drop of a hat.

“So I hope you are happy, you little cowardly b******s. I’ve never seen anything like you, you pure s***houses. And this is mainly to do with Eddie Hearn’s ego, what a little p****. It’s cost us the biggest fight in boxing history. Clown.”

It has been claimed the absolute alternative if the fight does fall through is for a bout between Ryan Garcia and Terence Crawford to replace it.

A press conference is scheduled to take place on Wednesday but the situation remains uncertain.
