Kyle Walker opened his Manchester City account with a 25-yard screamer to put Pep Guardiola's side back in the lead against Newcastle, but the state of his socks were well and truly the talk of the town.
Once again, the England right-back played with a plethora of holes cut into his City home socks and confused a whole lot of people in the process.
Here's just some of the reaction:
Walker is a man of superstitions; he regularly performs a Triple H-esque water spit before games and also wears the same pair of shinpads he's had since being a kid.

But even though it looks a bit naff, there is actually a reason why his socks have so many cuts - that being to relieve tension and prevent pain in the lower leg muscles.
These days, the combination of tight socks and bulging calf muscles run the risk of muscle injuries - and cutting holes is the common solution many players are choosing to help stop it.
Walker's international colleague Danny Rose did it during the World Cup but it's the former Spurs man who goes above and beyond with his holes.

Anyway, for anyone who was seriously scratching their head, you have your explanation.
