Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has broken ranks by responding to a clip of Jamie Carragher talking about him on a preview of the new season of Stick to Football.
The first episode of season four of Stick to Football will be released on Thursday (August 20), with the usual suspects, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Ian Wright, Jill Scott and Carragher, set to discuss all things Premier League.
Given their respective allegiances, Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal will likely feature heavily, as well as individual players such as Rashford, who looks set to stay at his boyhood club despite recent loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona.
Rashford made his first United appearance in 20 months during last weekend’s 4-2 pre-season defeat to AC Milan, with the forward introduced as a second-half substitute.

Unless a drastic change happens between now and the September 1 deadline, Rashford will be reintegrated into Michael Carrick’s plans ahead of an important season for the Old Trafford club, who will return to the Champions League.

And before a ball has even been kicked in the Premier League, Rashford is capturing attention for his recent social media activity.
The aforementioned clip taken from Stick to Football began with Neville saying: “Marcus Rashford, what do we think?” to which Carragher responded with an expletive before adding: “Can we do a podcast without mentioning Marcus Rashford… stop it. It’s like Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and Rashford are almost like a part of the podcast. The Trent part or the Rashford part. Oh my god!”
Neville tried to continue the conversation by adding: “No, but he’s come back to United…” however Carragher didn’t comply and exclaimed: “So what? He’s just a good player for Man Utd.”
Marcus Rashford issues unexpected response to Jamie Carragher outburst
And while supporters are no doubt looking forward to listening to the episode, nobody expected Rashford himself to comment on it.
The United star quote-tweeted the clip, commenting: “Thanks, Jamie. It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day.”
Of course, fans quickly reacted, with one saying: “Couldn’t agree more with Marcus Rashford here. The media really hasn’t stopped talking about him since he’s come back to United. Can’t wait for him to prove a lot of people wrong.”
Another added: “I completely understand wanting to put your head down and just play football, but this makes it sound like the noise around your name is something that simply happens to you. At some point, you have to take responsibility for the fact that your performances, decisions and constant speculation have all contributed to why your name is mentioned every day.
"Nobody wants to see you dragged through the headlines. But the best way to make it stop isn’t another comment about the noise - it’s performances on the pitch. Get fit. Work hard. Stay consistent. Let your football do the talking.”
While a third commented: “This is why Rashford wanted to leave England, because they keep mentioning his name every damn time. I guess he’s got a good media pull.”
United begin their Premier League season away at Hull City on August 22, with Rashford expected to feature.
