Man Utd make major Marcus Rashford transfer decision amid Saudi and Turkey interest

A major update on Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has emerged – and it will divide opinion.

Despite Rashford impressing during his season-long loan spell at Barcelona last season, with his 14 goals helping Hansi Flick’s side win La Liga, the Catalan club decided against paying £26million to make the move permanent.

As a result, Rashford has been forced to reconsider his options, with many possibilities still on the table ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season.

The 28-year-old has been linked with moves to Turkey, Germany, Italy and Saudi Arabia, with reports even suggesting numerous Premier League clubs are keen on recruiting him before the September 1 deadline.

Contrasting reports have also suggested head coach Michael Carrick is open to working with Rashford, with his quality and experience likely to be a valuable asset as United compete on four fronts: the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup this term.

INEOS have already signed two midfielders – Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea – this summer, with United’s recruitment team also hoping to bring in a third midfielder, a left-back and a supporting striker to work with Benjamin Sesko, who is expected to be Carrick’s first choice.

Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall is said to be United’s current priority, but a potential deal is looking increasingly unlikely due to the Magpies already selling Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimarães this summer.

Could Marcus Rashford stay at Man Utd?

United are also in need of a left-sided attacker and, according to Fabrizio Romano, it is looking likely that Rashford could fill the void, with the Italian issuing a major update via his YouTube channel on Saturday evening (August 8).

“Man Utd really feeling that there is concrete strong, likely chances to see Marcus Rashford staying at Manchester United,” Romano said.

“At the moment, there are no movements with other clubs. Rashford is not accepting Turkey or Saudi. These solutions are not interesting for Marcus Rashford. He is not going to consider that.

“And it’s not about the money, it’s not about the proposals. He doesn’t want to play for these clubs at this stage of his career.

“So, for Rashford, it is stay at Man Utd or a very top, top club at the very end of the window. But at the moment, the most likely outcome is for Marcus Rashford to stay at United.

“United believe that at the end of the window, Rashford has a really big chance to stay at the club, to revive his career with Michael Carrick.

“So, strong, strong chances to see Marcus Rashford staying at Manchester United this summer.

“Obviously, Michael Carrick is a big factor because he will be very happy to continue with Marcus Rashford. He would be very happy to give him one more opportunity, so let’s follow the situation.”

Rashford is expected to return to pre-season training this week.

United get their Premier League campaign underway with a trip to Hull on August 23.
