Marcus Rashford's Man Utd future takes twist as two Premier League clubs register interest

Two Premier League clubs have reportedly registered interest in Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

Rashford spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Barcelona, with the Englishman registering 14 goals and as many assists in 49 appearances and, in doing so, helping the Catalans win La Liga.

Despite his positive impact, Barça decided against making Rashford’s move permanent, with the forward now expected to return to parent club Manchester United next week. Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martínez are also expected to report back after their World Cup commitments.

Rashford is reportedly of interest to several clubs around Europe, with Turkish giants Fenerbahçe willing to offer him an escape route. The Sun reports the Istanbul club are ready to break the bank to secure Rashford’s signature.

The forward’s representatives have reportedly been contacted over a move, although it remains unclear whether he would be willing to move to Turkey.

On Tuesday (August 4), the Daily Mail revealed that a number of Premier League clubs, including two with a particular interest, are weighing up a move for the 28-year-old, while clubs in Italy, Germany, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are also open to potential loan deals.

It is unclear who the two Premier League clubs with heightened interest in Rashford are, although it is unlikely to be rivals Manchester City or Liverpool.

The United academy graduate could feature in a friendly against AC Milan next week, with the Italians now managed by ex-United boss Ruben Amorim, with whom Rashford’s relationship broke down during his time at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, according to TeamTalk, Rashford staying at United should not be ruled out, as head coach Michael Carrick is said to be excited about working with the forward and sees him becoming a key figure next season.

The outlet reports: “Rashford’s salary has not been viewed as an issue by Carrick or his coaching staff.

“Instead, they are focused on the opportunity to reintegrate a player they believe still possesses the quality to make a major impact under the new regime.”

Rashford, who is United’s highest earner on £325,000 per week, is contracted to the club until 2028.

The transfer window closes on September 1, with several incomings and outgoings expected at Old Trafford before then, with the 20-time Premier League champions already welcoming Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, as well as back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow, this summer.

United are also reportedly interested in Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall and would ideally like to bring in a third midfielder.

Carrick’s side get their Premier League campaign underway away at Hull on August 22.
