Sir Alex Ferguson has fended off fierce competition from legendary duo Rinus Michels and Arrigo Sacchi to be named the best football manager of all time.

The legendary 78-year-old Scotsman enjoyed a successful period in the managerial dugout at Aberdeen before moving to Manchester United in 1986.

And Ferguson compiled an incredible trophy haul in his 27-year reign at the Red Devils, which included 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League titles.

The former United boss ranked top of 90min's rankings for the best managers of all time, saying the Red Devils "simply wouldn't be Manchester United without Sir Alex Ferguson."

According to the publication, Ferguson's "longevity made him the greatest of all time, building team after team and continuing to win and win in a way that will never be repeated."

Finishing behind Ferguson was Sacchi, with 90min saying that he was the "conductor of the single greatest club team the world has ever seen."

Posted below are 90min's picks for the 50 best managers in football history.
