Brazilian superstar Neymar has named the three players he feels should make the final three for this year's Ballon d'Or award.

Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah were the last three for the recent FIFA Best Men's Player award, which was picked up by Modric.

Neymar has only kept one of the trio in his picks for the upcoming gong. The PSG superstar, who was third in 2015 and 2017, thinks Lionel Messi and Ronaldo should be contesting for their sixth Ballon d'Or.

But instead of putting himself on their level, he selected his club teammate Kylian Mbappe, who won the World Cup and has had a quite sensational year.

"I would say, Ronaldo, Messi and Mbappe," he told AS when asked who he reckons has a chance of winning the award.

Modric is the man who ended Messi and Ronaldo's dominance when it comes to individual trophies thanks to his big win at the FIFA's 'The Best' awards in London and he's well in contention for the Ballon d'Or prize, which is announced and given to the winner in December.

Mbappe is well in with a shout though, after scoring 24 goals and laying on 11 assists since the turn of the year. The 19-year old boy-wonder was integral to France winning their first World Cup for 20 years, scoring four goals from seven shots in his debut international tournament.

His colleague, Angel Di Maria, recently hailed him as a future Ballon d'Or winner.

"If he continues at this level, he can win it in any year," he told TF1's 'Telefoot' programme.

"We see in each of his matches the potential that he has - he exploits it every time, even if he is only 19."
