Granit Xhaka gifted Burnley an equaliser with a horrendous mistake at Turf Moor in today's early kick-off.

The Gunners were 1-0 up early on through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but the scores were level again before half-time courtesy of a moment of madness from Xhaka.

The Swiss international received the ball from goalkeeper Bernd Leno under pressure in his own box, and with his body position all wrong, smacked a pass straight at Clarets' Chris Wood.

The ball hit the New Zealand striker on his hip and bounced into the empty net, giving him the most bizarre goal of his career.

Xhaka hasn't had the best of times against Burnley, having been sent off twice against Sean Dyche's side during his time at Arsenal.

And things didn't get any better for the former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder today. His first touch was slack and then the second touch, an attempt to find David Luiz, was woeful and saw Wood score with minimal effort required.

Unsurprisingly, Xhaka was subject to a lot of rinsing on social media:

Since 2016/17, no player has made more errors directly leading to opposition goals than Xhaka. While it was nice of him to assist Wood, it's yet another mistake he will want to forget in a hurry.
