WWE forced to mute The Rock at WrestleMania 40 after another X-rated tirade

WWE forced to mute The Rock at WrestleMania 40 after another X-rated tirade

The Rock wrestled his first proper match in over a decade at WrestleMania 40 but produced another expletive-filled rant.

WWE were forced to mute The Rock during his triumphant return to the ring at WrestleMania 40.

The Final boss had his first proper match in WWE since 2013 on Saturday night, teaming with real life cousin Roman Reigns against the team of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a star-studded main event.

An intense 12-week training camp got the 51-year-old in incredible ring shape and he did not mess a step in the 44 minute bout - although he did narrowly avoid a serious injury.

The People's Champion, holding the belt given to him by Muhammad Ali's widow, pinned Rhodes and ensured that the Royal Rumble's undisputed WWE title match against Reigns on Sunday will be contested under 'Bloodline rules'.

TKO board member Rock has been adopting a cut-throat villainous persona since his return and he has hurled a slew of expletives on screen.

And he was at it again on Saturday night. When referee Chad Patton was counting as action spilled out of the ring Rock abused his power and threatened to fire the official.

He then told him that he doesn't "f*** around".

He vented: "You count, you're fired. You understand? You know The Rock, I don't *f*** around. You count, you're fired."

It was at this point when WWE forced to mute the rest of the exchange. The latest expletive follows on from a series of segments and social media promos featuring colourful language from the Great One.

He recently told Rhodes, "This is what happens when you f*** with the final boss" during a vicious closing sequence on Raw".

WWE is still a PG product and there were reports that WWE superstars received a memo reminding them they must follow guidelines, though some expressed unhappiness about The Rock getting perceived preferential treatment.

He branded the claims "horses**t" and in another post on his use of swearing, said: "'Networks and 'standards & practices' have issues with my language, but I’d rather be real than not. I talk from the heart, shoot from the hip and try to always have fun."I talk from the heart, shoot from the hip and try to always have fun".
