Ric Flair slammed by WWE fans for disgusting, 'misogynist' tweet about ex-wife Wendy Barlow

Retired WWE superstar Ric Flair recently revealed the revival of his relationship with ex-wife Wendy Barlow, then posted a baffling tweet in reference that his fans have branded ‘misogynist’.

Regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers in the sport’s history, Flair is a 16-time world champion that spent over five decades in the ring entertaining fans.

In 2018, the now 77-year-old married Barlow, who he had met back in 1993 when she appeared as ‘Fifi the Maid’ during Flair’s World Champion Wrestling run.

The pair did not tie the knot legally; however, they did enjoy a ceremonial wedding. Flair has been married four times previously, then separated from Barlow in early 2022.

The couple reconciled later that year, with their union lasting until late 2024, ending what is believed to have been a 13-year-long relationship.

Three of Flair’s five wives were wedded to him in the 2000s, but Elizabeth Flair, whom he was married to for over 20 years prior to the turn of the century, was the longest of those unions. Leslie Goodman was his first wife, in a marriage that lasted from 1971 to 1983.

Now, the WWE icon appears to have reconciled once more with Barlow, announcing the reunion via X with a ‘promo-style’ tweet that some fans have branded disgusting and ‘misogynist’.

The 77-year-old posted an image of the pair on X, accompanied by the statement: “I told you it was only a matter of time until you came running back!

“At least I know I am in good hands, because you have always taken the best care of me out of anyone in the whole world,” the tweet continued. “She finally figured out there is only one Ric Flair and one James Bond.

“And currently, Ric Flair is available for any kind of action. Let’s see if Wendy still has it! LFG!” he concluded.

Barlow is thought of highly by the WWE icon’s fans for looking after Flair during a period of major health scares, including being put into a medically-induced coma following organ failure in 2017.

Earlier this year, Flair, who has beaten skin cancer twice, took to X to reveal those issues are still ongoing, writing: “If you understood the health issues that I deal with… I’m sorry for the frustration. I’m taking the time to focus on my health.”

Many fans were left baffled and outraged by Flair’s announcement regarding Barlow, particularly at a time when the health scares that his ex-wife supported him through appear to be continuing.

“What a f***ing pathetic, arrogant, narcissistic excuse for a human being!” one wrote. “Ric, you’re a hero to many, but you sound like a raging misogynist here who doesn’t respect his wife,” said another.

“Speaking in this way towards a woman that took care of you when you were close to dying, and this is how you talk about her,” wrote another outraged X user.

Others were more supportive of Flair’s words, claiming that it was simply a joke intended to mimic the ‘promos’ he became known and adored for throughout his wrestling career.

“Promo on the wife is such a WWE thing to do… y’all completely missed the joke,” claimed one such user. “Did you just do a promo on your own girl?” said another, adding laughing emojis.

Whether Flair and Barlow’s relationship will survive another round remains to be seen, but some of the WWE legend’s fans aren’t too convinced.
