In a huge boost to Newcastle’s effort to retain their best players and improve an out-of-sorts squad, the Magpies are set to receive even more money from the Alexander Isak deal.
Liverpool’s record signing has been far from what you’d class as ‘value for money,’ with an injury-stricken season resulting in just three Premier League goals in a handful of starts for Arne Slot’s side.
The injuries that have sidelined Isak have already cost Liverpool huge sums, on top of the £125 million fee that they paid in August.
While Liverpool is prepared to continue investing in support for Isak through new signings, Newcastle remains hamstrung in the financial department after some questionable summer business.

Still, even though Newcastle haven’t recouped Isak’s goals with the additions of Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa, the Isak money is still coming in, giving them more opportunity to pick up a goalscorer.
Newcastle to receive FIFA fees for Isak’s World Cup appearances
As part of the FIFA Club Benefits Programme, clubs around the world are all being given thousands of pounds for every day their players are competing in the 2026 World Cup.
For Newcastle specifically, this already includes Bruno Guimarães (Brazil), Wissa (Congo), and Anthony Elanga (Sweden).
This is expected to be bolstered by a string of England call-ups for Anthony Gordon, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, and possibly Harvey Barnes, while Woltemade and Malik Thiaw are nailed on for Germany’s upcoming squad announcement.
But the Benefits Programme also means that clubs will be getting part of the funds for players that they have owned in the last two years, meaning Isak’s Sweden fees will be split between Liverpool and Newcastle.

Despite only making three appearances since breaking his leg in January versus Tottenham, Isak has been named in the Sweden line-up, where he will partner Viktor Gyökeres.
The scheme gives clubs £8,200 for every day one of their players is away at the World Cup, guaranteeing at least £186,000 per player, and up to double if they progress through the knockout stages.
For Liverpool, the shared split won’t hurt them too much, as they will also be benefiting from Luis Diaz (Colombia) and Darwin Nunez (Uruguay).
While it might not be much for Newcastle, every penny counts for the Toon at the moment, as clubs have begun circling to attract their top players, such as Sandro Tonali.
