Alexander Isak is on the verge of making Premier League history after Liverpool reached an agreement to sign the Sweden international from Newcastle for a British-record fee.
The biggest saga of the summer has taken until deadline day to finalise but late on Sunday night, it was widely reported that Isak will undergo a medical on Monday ahead of a deal worth £130 million.
For weeks, the 25-year-old has been determined to join Arne Slot's side, even refusing to play for Newcastle in an attempt to force a switch.

Liverpool had an offer worth around £110 million rejected for Isak, but the Merseyside club were always expected to return with a second bid before the transfer window closes at 7 pm on September 1.
And they've done exactly that, testing Newcastle's resolve with an offer worth £130 million to the Magpies due to solidarity payments, according to The Athletic.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are set to part with £125 million – a fee that will become a new Premier League transfer record, surpassing Enzo Fernández's £106 million move from Benfica to Chelsea in 2023.

It looked like Newcastle may have refused to sell unless they were able to sign further attacking reinforcements, but last week, they snapped up Nick Woltemade in a £69 million deal from Stuttgart.
Isak expressed his desire to leave Newcastle this summer and was soon left out of their pre-season plans.
Things soon turned ugly as the Swede issued a statement claiming Newcastle had "broken promises" to allow him to leave. However, the club immediately denied an agreement was in place to let Isak depart, with Eddie Howe insisting he wanted to keep the player.
Ahead of last week's Premier League clash between Newcastle and Liverpool, Isak spoke to a Public Investment Fund delegation, along with Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben, about his future at St James' Park.

Here, he once again repeated his desire to join Liverpool.
Liverpool were said to be waiting for encouragement from the Newcastle board before proceeding, and with hours to go until the window slams shut, it appears they are on the verge of getting their man.
So far, the club have spent more than £300 million on the additions of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, while Isak's arrival is expected to take that total beyond the £400 million mark.
How will Liverpool line up in the coming weeks?
With hours remaining of the window, Liverpool are also being strongly linked with Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.

If they get a deal over the line, which could be worth £35 million plus add-ons, then Arne Slot would be able to field arguably one of the strongest line-ups in recent Premier League history.
