Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has refused to rule out the possibility of making a stunning move for Cristiano Ronaldo next summer.

Ronaldo, 35, left Real Madrid in 2018 to complete a sensational £99.2m switch to Juventus.

The Portuguese superstar has remained in fine form since his arrival at the Old Lady and has won the Serie A title twice with Juventus.

However, recent reports have suggested that Juventus could axe Ronaldo next summer due to his staggering wages.

PSG are the current favourites to sign the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, whose current deal with Juventus expires in 2022.

When he was asked if the French club could make a move for Ronaldo, Leonardo told PSG TV: "Today in football, we do not know what will happen. Maybe tomorrow Cristiano Ronaldo wakes up and says I want to go play elsewhere.

"Who can buy him? It's a closed circle. PSG enters this circle. Usually, it is about opportunities, situations.

"The transfer window, we have to prepare for it and that's what we do. We have our priorities, our lists, but something unforeseen can happen."

Andy Townsend has already suggested that Ronaldo would thrive under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Leonardo has admitted that PSG could still do business in subsequent windows, despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

"We have not thought about playing the entire season behind closed doors," the PSG sporting director explained.

"We can't talk about the amount of money, but it's easy to calculate. Last year, we lost between 15 and 20 per cent and this year it will be more.

"But honestly, at PSG, there is the capacity and the means to overcome the crisis. The other clubs will perhaps have more difficulty to overcome the crisis. But the ambition here is always enormous."
