Brennan Johnson goes savage mode on Gabby Agbonlahor and Jamie O'Hara after brutal dig

New Everton signing Brennan Johnson has fired back at talkSPORT's Jamie O'Hara and Gabriel Agbonlahor after they criticised him on-air.

Johnson, 25, signed a four-year contract with the Toffees on Tuesday, with Dwight McNeil going in the opposite direction to Crystal Palace as part of a swap deal.

The Wales international only joined Palace during the January transfer window, making 26 appearances in all competitions without scoring while providing two assists.

He did, however, help Oliver Glasner's side to win the Conference League title, his second European trophy in 12 months after he lifted the Europa League with Spurs - having scored the winning goal in their 1-0 final victory over Manchester United - in the previous season,

But the swap deal involving Johnson and McNeil was mocked by former Premier League footballers O'Hara and Agbonlahor, with Johnson coming in for the brunt of their criticism.

"I like Dwight McNeil. Brennan Johnson has been a myth for a few seasons, right? He didn't do it at Spurs. One of our seasons he got top scorer, but hides in big games," O'Hara claimed. "Hides."

"You look at both of them, their outputs," Agbonlahor said. "16 Premier League appearances for Spurs [Johnson], two goals, zero assists. Then at Palace, zero goals, one assist."

"Four yellows, in 18 appearances," he added, prompting O'Hara to burst into laughter.

"Then Dwight McNeil last season, 22 appearances in the Premier League, zero goals, one assist. So he's not doing enough as well."

"I like Dwight McNeil," O'Hara reiterated. "If I was going to look at a player on a football pitch and say who would I rather have, I'd take Dwight McNeil. He's going to work hard, lovely left foot. He'll give you something.

"Brennan Johnson... he's so frustrating. He's got all the attributes."

"I agree," Agbonlahor replied. "When I watch him, I'm like, you're not using your pace. You're so quick - use it right. When you get it, knock it past the player at the right time. Get a cross in. He'll always make the wrong decision.

"And like you said, he's happy to get it and pass it, and then he's like, 'Don't give it back to me'."

"I guess maybe that's a confidence thing," O'Hara said. "Maybe David Moyes might be the right move. He's got the attributes - he showed it at Nottingham Forest. Spurs bought him for 50 million quid."

Johnson responds to talkSPORT criticism

The clip was posted to Instagram by talkSPORT's official Instagram account, receiving 6,000 likes by Wednesday morning.

Johnson saw the video and decided to reply, simply writing: "Won more than both of these put together." He then added a laughing emoji, with the post racking up over 10,000 likes.

Speaking to Everton's official website about his move, Johnson said: "I'm so excited to be here. The Club speaks for itself - it's a massive club and one that when I first heard of the interest, I immediately wanted to come and be part of it.

"There were a lot of reasons why I was so keen to join - the manager, the players, the direction the team is going in. You can see this is a club that wants to go in the right direction, and I'm a player who wants to go in that direction, so it feels like a really good match.

"I want to come in and show what I can do. The manager spoke to me about getting back to the form that I've shown previously, and that's a massive thing for me - the fact he knows and believes in what I can do. For me, listening to him - a manager who is so experienced and someone who has been so successful - it was really nice to hear."
