Mats Hummels was shown one of the harshest red cards you are ever likely to see in Borussia Dortmund's Champions League clash against Ajax.
The German was shown his marching orders after colliding with Antony, who stood on the ball and fell into Hummels after losing possession.

It has prompted plenty of backlash on Twitter, with the decision being labelled as "comical", while others cannot believe the decision withstood after being checked by VAR.
Another even promoted violence against the referee if they were in Hummels' position, and another bemoaned the standard of English refereeing itself, with Premier League man Michael Oliver officiating the match.

But the decision does not appear to have done too much damage for Dortmund though, who took the lead thanks to Marco Reus in the 37th minute.
Of course, there is still another half of football to play at the time of writing so the decision could still indeed come back to haunt Marco Rose's side.
