FPL managers identify bottom-half team that has 'insane' fixture run and everyone needs a player from ASAP

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have been urged to pick at least one player from a club that could carry them through to the latter weeks of the season.

Most of the top-scoring players in FPL so far this season have been the usual suspects, with Joao Pedro and Erling Haaland topping the attacker charts, Josko Gvardiol on top of the defence charts and David Raya ranked as the best-performing goalkeeper.

But it is in midfield where things start to get interesting, with Brighton's Pascal Gross (33 points) top of that chart for the moment. And despite being winless out of their four games so far, two Bournemouth players - Marcus Tavernier and Alex Scott - are in the top five midfielders. Given their run of fixtures to come, the Cherries could be the perfect club to focus on for GW5.

Why Bournemouth players could be valuable on FPL - and fast

Bournemouth have lost three and drawn one of their four Premier League games under new head coach Marco Rose - but the results don't exactly tell the full story.

The Cherries led at Manchester City until the closing stages, when they conceded two late goals, before Everton equalised to make it 1-1 in the 91st minute at Dean Court after the hosts had led for 50 minutes.

They led 2-0 at Newcastle before Mathias Jaissle's side pulled it back to 2-2, and had 20 shots at goal during a 2-2 draw against Brentford on Saturday.

Should Bournemouth fix their defensive deficiencies, particularly late on in matches, the results will surely come - and they may have some good opportunities to get them in the upcoming weeks.

Popular FPL Twitter account @FPL_Marcello has highlighted Bournemouth's run of 'red' fixtures - those at the upper end of the difficulty scale, from 2 to 4, with Arsenal the exception on 5 - and it is remarkable.

Between GW7 and GW30 in April, the Cherries face just two 'red' fixtures, against Manchester United and Aston Villa, with their other fixtures against projected 'easier' opponents rated 2 and 3. They do face two 'red' fixtures in the next two gameweeks, against Liverpool (away) and then Chelsea (home).

The ranking isn't an exact science, as it is based largely on last season's league table. Other factors, though, are involved, with 17th-placed finishers Tottenham ranked 3 after their summer of big spending compared to 12th-placed Newcastle at 2.

It has also assigned Brighton at 2 - something that Coventry would argue with after the Seagulls thrashed them 5-0 away from home on Sunday.

Which Bournemouth players should you buy?

As mentioned above, midfielders Marcus Tavernier and Alex Scott (both priced at £6.1m) could be a good place to start, with the two players having netted 29 and 28 points respectively.

Other FPL players, though, will be having the same thought. With Tavernier owned by 4.8 per cent of users, and Scott 5.9 per cent, their prices will rise as a result of the dynamic pricing system if they are bought in high volumes.

Striker Evanilson could be a strong alternative. The Brazilian is owned by 3.3 per cent of players at £6m, and though he hasn't scored yet this season, has provided three assists. He netted six times last season under Andoni Iraola but assisted seven as well.

Midfielder Justin Kluivert (£6m) hasn't yet fired so far this season but has started every game, and scored his first goal of the campaign in Saturday's draw with Brentford. Only 1 per cent of players own the Dutchman, who had 18 goal involvements in 2024/25 and will hope to get back to his best after missing the second half of last season with a knee injury.

Brazil midfielder Rayan (13 starts, five goals, two assists last season) is another yet to find top form. He hasn't scored or assisted yet this campaign, and is owned by 1.8 per cent of players. He is Bournemouth's most expensive player, though, at £6.4m.

And centre-back James Hill (£5.5m) is also worth considering. The 24-year-old is an automatic starter when fit and recorded an average of 10.9 defensive contributions per match last season. Players are guaranteed to receive 2 DCT points if they reach the threshold of 10 contributions per match.
