FPL managers rushing to double up on two assets ahead of perfect Gameweek 5 fixture

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are taking advantage of a favourable Gameweek 5 fixture swing by purchasing two assets.

In gameweek four, plenty of the lower-owned budget enablers continued to provide value for the managers brave enough to pick them. Hull City's Mohamed Belloumi (£5.1m), owned by only 3.3 per cent of all FPL players, delivered a sensational 13-point haul by scoring twice at Stamford Bridge in a 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

Only five other Premier League stars scored more points than the Algerian in gameweek four, proving why starting players based solely on fixture difficulty isn't everything, as many would have benched the 24-year-old against Xabi Alonso's star-studded side.

Why FPL managers are rushing to buy Daniel Munoz and Morgan Gibbs-White

Although Belloumi delivered a double-digit haul in a difficult fixture, many managers will only bring in a transfer when a player has a run of favourable upcoming matches.

That strategy applies this weekend when Nottingham Forest host a struggling Coventry City, who have lost each of their opening four games on their Premier League return without scoring a goal.

Several managers are seeing Forest's clash against the Sky Blues on Saturday as an opportunity to buy two assets, in particular, with defender Daniel Munoz (£5.4m) and Morgan Gibbs-White (£7.9m) receiving a raft of transfers in.

Munoz made his first start for the Tricky Trees since joining from Crystal Palace in their 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday, catching the eye at right wing-back and linking up well with Gibbs-White.

Widely regarded as one of the Premier League's best wing-backs, Munoz has been transferred in by over 75,000 FPL managers ahead of Gameweek 5 and is seen as a brilliant attacking option for their upcoming fixtures.

Forest play Coventry City, Palace and Ipswich Town in three of their next four, and the 30-year-old could deliver some monster hauls for that run, all while being benched for their home clash with Arsenal in Gameweek 7.

Likewise, this run of fixtures is seen as the perfect opportunity to purchase Gibbs-White, who has returned 26 points - one goal and two assists - for those who started Gameweek 1 with him in their teams.

Arguably the division's best attacking midfielder in 2026, Gibbs-White has somewhat gone under the radar at the start of the campaign as he's only owned by 12.4 per cent of managers at the time of writing.

However, his ownership has already skyrocketed ahead of Gameweek 5, as only Brighton's Pascal Gross and Chelsea's Morgan Rogers have been transferred in more than the 26-year-old (305,212).

The Englishman has transformed into Forest's talisman since the beginning of last season, netting 19 goals in all competitions, while the fact that he plays ninety minutes every game, takes set pieces, penalties, and records assists makes him hugely appealing.

Why Daniel Munoz could be the standout FPL pick from Nottingham Forest

Gibbs-White is the third-most popular transfer this week in FPL for good reason, but Munoz could be a steal at £5.4m if he reaches his explosive best at the City Ground.

In two campaigns at Palace, the attacking wing-back returned 17 goal involvements under Glasner, and the early signs at Forest suggest he could reach - or even - surpass those numbers.

Munoz was hugely impressive in the win against Villa, and Jamie Carragher thinks he's the "best right wing-back we've seen in the Premier League" when discussing his impact on Monday Night Football.

“When we talk about (Daniel) Munoz, we’re going to look at his numbers from the weekend. So, distance he covers, the progressive passes, all of these metrics, he’s right up at the top," Carragher said.

“Now, I said it’s so difficult to get a top-quality wing-back because very few teams play with them, but when you think of teams in this country who have been successful with three at the back or five at the back, we always go back to (Antonio) Conte at Chelsea, and I always think you need at least one specialist. Alonso was the specialist in that team, the best left wing-back we’ve seen in the Premier League.

“The other team we think about with the three at the back is Crystal Palace with Glasner and the success they’ve had over the last two or three years and they had this guy, the best right wing-back that we’ve seen in the Premier League; he’s absolutely sensational, I love him to bits.”

If Munoz starts delivering attacking returns at Forest, his upside could make him a compelling alternative to the DEFCON-heavy defenders currently dominating FPL teams.
