Manchester United In 'Advanced Talks' With Antero Henrique For Sporting Director Role

Manchester United are in 'advanced talks' with former PSG sporting director Antero Henrique to take a similar role at Old Trafford.

The 51-year-old recently spent two years with the Ligue 1 outfit as their sporting director after a spell at Porto.

Now French publication L'Équipe are reporting that Henrique is in 'advanced talks' with the 'Red Devils'.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is currently responsible for bringing players to Old Trafford but is not a popular figures among fans.

The arrival of Henrique would be significant for United who have been looking for a sporting director for the last 18 months.

He's also credited with brokering the deals that brought Dani Alves, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar to PSG in his first summer there.

Henrique oversaw a much quieter summer in 2018 but managed to secure young talent such as Thilo Kehrer and Leandro Paredes.

Woodward took over United in his current role back in 2012 and fans have taken a dislike to him.

United are yet to make a signing in this January transfer window despite a depleted squad with numerous injuries.

They have chased Bruno Fernandes all January and have also had a loan deal for Matias Vecino rejected.

On the striker front, former Premier League forwards Odion Ighalo and Islam Slimani have been discussed.

Solskjaer discussed transfers in his press conference today and had a cutting response to a journalist's question.

Per The Mirror, he stated:

"I haven't got any updates for you on transfers, I think it was a waste (of a question), I gave you the option.

"I haven't got anything to say now, my mind is on the game [against Manchester City]."

He added: "We've got players here that we're working hard to get back as well and if there is something out there then the club is pursuing that and it's difficult.

"I can't remember how many good ones we've brought in and good deals in January.

"Henrik [Larsson] was good, Nemanja [Vidic] and Patrice [Evra], I'm talking about it's hard, very hard, the clubs don't want to lose their best players."
