The Brazilian is just the latest star player to leave St James' Park, following the likes of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Kieran Trippier.

Following confirmation of the £75million transfer, Newcastle United released a blunt statement on the move, while Guimaraes thanks fans for their support ahead of what he described as 'one of the toughest decisions' of his life.
And now, the 28-year-old has opened up more about the details of his move, revealing that Arsenal star Declan Rice actually sent him a message on social media ahead of the transfer.

Throughout their time as Premier League rivals, Rice and Guimaraes, both known for their physicality on the pitch, clashed on several occasions, no doubt leading to the Englishman wanting to clear the air ahead of their first match together.
And Rice wasn't the only player to message the former Newcastle skipper about his move to the Emirates, as Guimaraes revealed that his Brazilian compatriots, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, have told him '"only good things" about Arsenal.
"Big Gabi was very excited," Guimaraes added. "Every time he sent me the message, 'we'll wait for you, when will you come?'
"I'm so excited to join them, not only the Brazilians, we have an amazing squad here. I'm so excited to meet the other players, to start training. I just want to give my best."

He said: "The midfield we have here, in my point of view, is one of the best in Europe.

Guimaraes has scored 30 goals and made 25 assists across 153 Premier League appearances for Newcastle since joining from French side Lyon in 2022.
Speaking directly to Arsenal fans, he added: ""I can pass the ball, run a lot and play like a warrior, I'll never give up.
