Liverpool could act quickly in the transfer market after securing a surprise deal for Barcelona defender Ronal Araujo out of nowhere.
It is well known that Liverpool are currently in somewhat of a defensive crisis, with several of the club's senior centre-backs and right-backs out with injuries.
As well as losing Ibrahima Konate and Andrew Robertson following the expiration of their contracts, Liverpool are currently without the likes of Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, Jeremy Jacquet and Joe Gomez.
With that in mind, many fans hoped that the club would address this glaring issue in the team during the ongoing summer transfer window, with England teammates Ezri Konsa and Djed Spence both linked with moves to Anfield.

However, following initial reports that Liverpool were not looking to make any defensive signings this summer, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Reds had completed a 'surprise bomba' signing of Barcelona defender Araujo.
The 27-year-old, who can play both centre-back and right-back, is set to join Liverpool on a season-long loan deal, with the agreement also including an optional buy clause.
Araujo has struggled for form in recent seasons, having recently fallen out of favour at Barcelona, but remains the club's captain and recently extended his contract until 2031, demonstrating the quality that the Spanish giants believe he has.
Now, Romano has hinted that another surprise Liverpool signing could be on the way, as he admitted that there is still a possibility that Andoni Iraola adds another defender to his ranks before the transfer window closes on September 1.
"I can’t say that Liverpool will not sign a right-back in the final weeks of the transfer window, but the focus was centre-back," Romano said on his YouTube channel.
In another report before confirming the Araujo signing, he said: "There are many reports on right-back. If I know something on right-back, I will let you know.
“At the moment I am not aware of movements for Djed Spence, despite reports. If something happens, I will let you know."

Will Liverpool sign Bradley Barcola this summer?
Outside of the reported interest in a new right-back, Liverpool have also been strongly linked with signing a new forward this summer, following the departure of club legend Mohamed Salah.
By far the most talked-about name for Liverpool this summer has been Paris Saint-Germain forward Barcola, who is reportedly keen on making the move to Anfield in the coming weeks.
But it was recently reported that, despite positive talks between Liverpool and Barcola's representatives taking place, a deal could be more difficult than initially expected due to PSG's valuation of their talented winger.
PSG currently value the 23-year-old at around £145million, while Liverpool are not willing to meet the valuation, with some reports suggesting that the Merseyside club value him at close to £115m.
Therefore, if a deal cannot progress soon, Liverpool may be forced to consider another forward target, with Barcola’s PSG teammate, 18-year-old right winger Ibrahim Mbaye, also believed to be an option.
