Cristiano Ronaldo had a moment of madness before missing his penalty against Ireland on a night that he became the all-time leading goal-scorer in men's international football.
Ronaldo surpassed Iran's Ali Daei with a goal in the 89th minute before bagging his 111th international goal in stoppage time to beat Ireland 2-1 in their World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

He left it late to break the record and secure three points for Portugal.
Ronaldo could have actually broke Daei's record in the opening stages of the game when his side were awarded a spot kick.
Bruno Fernandes was fouled inside the box, with the returning Manchester United superstar stepping up to take the penalty.

And as he placed the ball on the spot, Ireland's Dara O'Shea kicked the ball away which prompted an angry reaction.
The 36-year-old slapped the West Brom defender who hit the ground, with the match referee taking no action against the forward.
19-year-old Gavin Bazunu went onto save Ronaldo's penalty, but the five-time Ballon d'Or winner had the last laugh as he scored two later headers.

Though fans online reckon Ronaldo shouldn't have been on the pitch after striking O'Shea.
