Anthony Gordon has everyone in agreement over what he did on 'not normal' Champions League debut

Barcelona fans are all saying the same thing about Anthony Gordon after he made his Champions League debut for the club in their thumping 5-1 win over Feyenoord.

Gordon came off the bench on 63 minutes with Barca 3-1 up, replacing Karim Adeyemi.

He did not score or assist at Camp Nou, but earned significant attention on social media for one specific part of his game that he kept repeating throughout his cameo appearance.

Barcelona fans react to Anthony Gordon's Champions League debut

With Gordon on the pitch, Barca made it 5-1 through goals by Lamine Yamal and fellow new signing Gabriel Jesus.

Hansi Flick's side therefore scored five goals for the third consecutive game, having defeated Valencia 5-0 and Rayo Vallecano 5-2 in La Liga in their previous two matches.

It did not go unnoticed by fans that Barca's performance got even better when Gordon was on the pitch, with many noting his unselfishness in creating chances for his team-mates despite his side's comfortable position in the match.

"They should give the MVP to Anthony Gordon, he changed the team's whole vibe when he came on," one fan wrote.

"Meet Anthony 'set up' Gordon," a second stated.

"Anthony Gordon is incredibly unselfish," a third noted.

"Anthony Gordon enters and we start playing so much better," a fourth stated.

While a fifth wrote: "Anthony Gordon is strong oh look at that hold up play."

Barcelona team-mates tell Anthony Gordon he's 'not normal'

One of the most notable points of Gordon's early Barcelona career is how quickly he has adapted to his new surroundings.

The 25-year-old moved to Spain from Newcastle for a fee of £69.3 million in June and surprised onlookers by speaking some words of Spanish at his unveiling.

Gordon has also, according to Spanish outlet SPORT, been learning Catalan, which is regarded as an 'own language' in Barcelona - the capital city of Catalonia.

"Gordon doesn't want to be just passing through Barcelona and has amply demonstrated his desire to adapt to the Barca environment," the report stated.

A new report from The Athletic's Pol Ballus has revealed the extent to which Gordon's own team-mates have appreciated his willingness to integrate into his new home city.

After Gordon's name was chanted during a break in play in Barca's 5-2 win over Vallecano, the winger tapped the badge on his chest to a loud roar of approval. Fans showed their acceptance of him again against Feyenoord when he was substituted on.

"Straight after the match, multiple team-mates went to the England forward and mentioned the chants, making it clear to him that this is not normal," the report reads.

"Normally, your name being sung by the Camp Nou crowd is a privilege you have to earn. Gordon has won the fans over quicker than anyone expected when he arrived."

Gordon is one of only 13 English players to have played for Barcelona. Only two of those - Gary Lineker and Marcus Rashford - have been part of the Spanish giants since the end of World War II.
