Anthony Gordon's reaction to being substituted goes viral after record-equalling Barcelona display

Anthony Gordon equalled a record set by Cesc Fabregas in Barcelona's 5-0 win over Valencia - and his reaction to being substituted has gone viral.

Gordon starred once again as Barca thrashed Valencia 5-0 at Estadi Mestalla - the third match out of four in La Liga this season in which they have scored five goals.

The 25-year-old registered a 22nd-minute assist for Fermin Lopez to put Barca 2-0 up, with Lamine Yamal having seen a goal disallowed for offside minutes earlier.

With that assist, Gordon became the first player to register four assists in his first four La Liga games since former Barcelona stars Fabregas and Luis Suarez.

Given Barca were 3-0 up on the hour mark, manager Hansi Flick decided to make a host of changes, with Gordon among those making way.

The winger's early weeks at the club have been micro-analysed - just as is the case for any new Barcelona signing - and his reaction after the substitution board came up was spotted by fans on social media.

Gordon can be seen wiping his face with his shirt before walking off, without any airs, and acknowledging his replacement Karim Adeyemi as he was preparing to come on.

While Gordon's assist against Rayo Vallecano last week quickly went viral for its inventiveness - he backheeled the ball inside the penalty area for Raphinha to score - his pass on Sunday against Valencia was more routine.

Lamine Yamal was battling for space on the right side of the penalty box with several defenders around him, before Gordon took over and stretched across to play the ball backwards to Fermin.

The Spain international then produced an inch-perfect finish into the bottom left corner with his left foot to extend Barca's advantage to 2-0.

That was the 22-year-old's fifth goal of the season for Les Cules, while he also has one assist to his name.

Gordon impressed onlookers when he spoke Spanish at his Barcelona unveiling in June, later admitting that he had only had six lessons in the language at the time.

He conducted his first Barca post-match press conference after the 5-0 win over Elche, during which he assisted twice.

During the interview, he gave a small insight into how life at Barcelona has begun.

"I feel so good, I feel so good," he said. "Since I arrived, the guys have made me feel so welcome. I feel at home already.

"The city is amazing. The people are so friendly. I think I'll get better and better the longer I'm here."

Gordon is set to make his Champions League debut for his new club when Barca host Feyenoord at Camp Nou in their opening group stage match on Wednesday.

He will have to wait for his return to England, in playing terms, as Barcelona take on Aston Villa and Manchester City later in the group stage but both are home ties.
