A lucky punter has almost become a millionaire from staking just £4 on an extraordinary 12-fold football accumulator.
On Saturday afternoon, 35 games across the Championship, League One and League Two were played, with thousands of punters testing their know-how in an attempt to win a life-changing sum of money once more.
For many, it is a ritual to use the win market and select an accumulator of teams to win across the top four divisions in English football. But while the dream of winning a six-figure sum never becomes a reality for the majority, one fan has made it happen using a different method.

They wrote on X after all of the 3pm matches on Saturday (October 24) had finished: "£4 ⏩ £997,385.09. No, that's not a typo. A Betfair customer has won close to £1million. 12-game acca. Over 11.5 corners in EVERY one."
Reacting to the post, supporters were in disbelief that the lucky punter had just won almost £1 million, with one person jokingly writing: "Until I see a screenshot of his bank, I’ll take it yous will try and bump him."
Remarkably, in the League One clash between Reading and Barnsley, there was only one corner heading into half-time. Then, in the second half, a whopping 12 corners helped the punter on their way to winning a life-changing sum.
"1 half-time too between Reading and Barnsley absolutely bonkers," a second posted.
Normally, football punters will win big on backing teams to win, but this punter proved you can win a once-in-a-lifetime sum by betting on markets that are rarely used.

Biggest wins in sports betting history
Winning almost £1 million from a 12-fold accumulator places this lucky punter in elite company.
According to Out Played, the biggest sum of money anyone has supposedly won from an accumulator was in 2011 when Steve Whitely, a heating engineer from Devon, won £1,450,000 from just a £2 stake.
He’d placed a bet with the Tote Jackpot on six horses to win their respective races - and was the only person to correctly predict all six winners, ensuring that the entire jackpot went to him.
In second, Fred Craggs was the first person to become a millionaire from a high street bet after placing a 50p eight-fold accumulator on a wide selection of races, including Nad Al Sheba in Dubai, at eye-wateringly high odds of 2,000,000 to 1.
Going by the list, the Betfair punter who won £997,385 would be in fourth, making it one of the biggest winning bets in history.
