'I'll tell him right now...' - Erling Haaland makes demand to Ayyoub Bouaddi live on-air after Man City win over Porto

Erling Haaland let new Manchester City teammate Ayyoub Bouaddi know how he felt about a misplaced pass during their opening Champions League victory over Porto.

Haaland scored both of City's goals at the Estádio do Dragão, with manager Enzo Maresca handing teenage sensation Bouaddi his first start since a lucrative summer transfer from Lille.

The 18-year-old impressed in the middle of the park. Despite rave reviews from fans and pundits alike, Haaland thought it was important to address one moment in particular during the second half.

An 'angry' Erling Haaland gets Ayyoub Bouaddi moment off his chest

Speaking to Prime Video immediately after the full-time whistle, Haaland reflected on Bouaddi's performance and how he's settled into life in Manchester.

After touching on a conversation with City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, he brought up Bouaddi playing a ball to the left, rather than to Haaland on the right. Safe to say it's a mistake the Morocco international won't be making again

Haaland said: "He did a really good game! In training he's been amazing, I told the chairman [Khaldoon Al Mubarak].

"We've got a gem there... But I think he should've played me through in the second half; I was all alone; I was a bit angry, so I'll tell him right now - but he played a good game, except that pass..."

Haaland isn't afraid to demand more of his City teammates. He's got a reputation for scathing post-match interviews, famously calling out three players after a 3-1 defeat to Bodo/Glimt in January.

Luckily for Bouaddi, this was just a tongue-in-cheek comment that'll help him settle in at City.

Haaland wasn't the only man to sing Bouaddi's praises at full-time. Maresca also spoke to Prime Video, declaring: "Oh my god! He was never in panic; he was very good! The performance from him was unbelievable!"

Bouaddi took 71 touches alongside Enzo Fernandez in a new-look City midfield, completing 98 per cent of his passes and winning five duels.

Alongside Fernandez and Elliot Anderson, City hope they can ease the transition following Rodri's departure for Barcelona.

The trio made up most of City's summer spending, with Fernandez costing £125m, Anderson's fee reaching £116m and Bouaddi setting the eight-time Premier League champions back £86m.

City knew a rebuild was required and midfield was the perfect place to invest after already strengthening the backline and attack with Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo in the winter.

When pushed on City's spending, Maresca added: "But we are not the only ones! I'm not saying it's not true, it's true, it's true, but we are not the only ones... And the club reminded me to tell you that we also sold for BIG money... *laughs* (£150M net spend?) I cannot spend this money..."
