Manchester United have made their final decision on Michael Carrick's position as head coach ahead of their next fixture.
On Sunday, United made it to eight consecutive games in a row as they suffered a damaging 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
With pressure already mounting on Carrick's future at the club, many believed that the loss would be his last match in charge at United, but it's now been confirmed that he will remain in charge for the upcoming meeting with Chelsea.

On Saturday, October 31, United travel to Stamford Bridge to face a Chelsea side that has exceeded expectations so far this season.

Given the recent form of both clubs, United fans understandably aren't likely to be confident heading into the fixture, with many calling for Carrick to be sacked amid links to several other top managers.
But, as per The Athletic, Carrick has been given chance to turn results around, and will remain in charge for the Chelsea clash after taking training at Carrington ahead of the game.
As it stands, it is not clear if Carrick has been given just the Chelsea game to turn things around, or if he could have until the next international break, set to take place from Monday, 9 November to Tuesday, 17 November, to save his United career.
Either way, it seemingly puts to bed any rumours that the likes of Antonio Conte, Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann could be appointed any time in the near future, despite strong rumours linking the trio with the job at Old Trafford.

The real reason Man United haven't sacked Michael Carrick revealed
However, a damning report following news of Carrick keeping his job has revealed that the reason might not be faith in his ability to turn it around, bur rather failure to find his replacement.
According to Samuel Luckhurst, a source said '"the best ones won’t come" when asked about potential new managers.
The report adds that United are yet to make any formal approach for Conte, while Howe has started preparations ahead of a potential offer.
United’s director of recruitment Christopher Vivell is said to favour Nagelsmann having worked with him in the Red Bull group.
Within the Premier League, both Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler and Aston Villa boss Unai Emery have also been linked, but it is believed significant financial compensation for their current clubs would be needed to lure them away.
Additionally, Emery's title as 'manager' of Villa is believed to be an issue with United only appointing head coaches since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became co-owner in February 2024.
Should Carrick be sacked, United would then be looking at appointing their eighth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
