Ex-Liverpool youngster once called 'magnificent' by Steven Gerrard is looking for next club on LinkedIn at 28

Former Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder Ovie Ejaria has taken to LinkedIn as he searches for a new club in his professional football career.

The 28-year-old was playing for Real Oviedo in La Liga last season but became a free agent when his contract expired at the end of the campaign.

Ejaria has taken the unusual step of posting on social media in an effort to attract interest in his signature. He has listed himself as a central midfielder but is also willing to play on the left wing as he looks for a new challenge.

Ejaria is a graduate of the Arsenal academy and is still based in London after his solitary year in Spain with Oviedo.

He made eight appearances in La Liga last season but struggled for fitness after suffering an injury in December that left him sidelined for two months.

With spells at Sunderland, Rangers and Reading also under his belt, Ejaria is a talented player who is sure to appeal to numerous clubs. Although the summer transfer window has closed, he is still free to sign for a club, provided they have space in their 25-man squad.

In a post on LinkedIn, the former Liverpool player wrote: "I'm currently a free agent and looking for the right opportunity.

"I'm keeping the details brief for now, but if there's an opportunity or you know of a club looking for [a] midfielder - (6, 8 & 10) or someone who can play as a left winger, please feel free to DM me. All enquiries welcome."

Steven Gerrard's high praise for Ovie Ejaria

Ejaria moved to Liverpool as a youth player after spending nine years with boyhood club Arsenal. He made two Premier League appearances during his time at Anfield, along with a further three in the FA Cup.

Ejaria was sent out on three loan spells during his time with Liverpool, one of which was to Scottish giants Rangers.

It was during his time at Ibrox that he was managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. Ejaria made 28 appearances and scored two goals before his loan spell was cut short just months into the new season.

Despite the disappointing end to his time in Scotland, Ejaria still caught Gerrard's eye, with the former Liverpool captain heaping praise on the youngster following his performance against Ufa in the Europa League.

"I thought he was magnificent and I think that is his strongest 90 minutes that he has given us so far," Gerrard said in August 2018. "I think we have seen a lot of flashes and a lot of halves, some good performances, but I think that's his first real excellent performance that he's announced against a good team. I thought he was excellent from start to finish."

Following his release from Liverpool in 2020, the midfielder signed for Championship club Reading, where he spent the next three years.

He left the club in December 2023 and remained a free agent until joining Oviedo in July 2025.
