Benjamin Pavard Scores The Most Satisfying Goal Of The World Cup

TAKE A BOW...

Just when you thought Angel Di Maria had scored the best goal of the France-Argentina game, and quite possibly the World Cup, Benjamin Pavard goes and produces complete and utter filth.

Di Maria curled in a beauty from 30 yards to equalise for Argentina just before the interval and then in the second half, with the Albicelestes 2-1 up, Stuttgart defender Pavard levelled matters for Les Bleus with the most satisfying goal of the World Cup.

Lucas Hernandez's cross from the left made its way all across the pitch to the 22-year old right-back, who unleashed an outrageous outside of the boot half volley that rippled into the top bins.

The technique, and subsequent spin, left Franco Armani with absolutely no chance. Nacho Fernandez's eerily similar worldie for Spain against Portugal was bloody good but Pavard made it look so ordinary with this stellar strike.

It was Pavard's first goal for his country, in just his ninth appearances for Les Bleus.

The goal of the tournament competition promises to be very, very special and you'd bank on a few more belters in the rest of the knockout games.
