Staggering Liverpool Stat Emerges After PSV Defeat That Looks Fake

Liverpool were beaten by PSV Eindhoven at Anfield.

A staggering Liverpool stat has emerged after the Reds were thrashed at Anfield by PSV Eindhoven.

On Wednesday night, Liverpool were atrocious from start to finish as they fell to a 4-1 defeat against PSV in the UEFA Champions League.

Ivan Perisic, Guus Til, and Couhaib Driouech were on the scoresheet for the visitors, with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring for the hosts.

It was another off night for Liverpool's attackers as they only managed to score once despite having eight shots on target and a total of 24 attempts on goal.

Last weekend, during their 3-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest, Liverpool were again wasteful as they generated 20 shots, but only three were on target.

Following the match against PSV, a damning stat summed up Liverpool's recent form.

As per The xG Philosophy, Liverpool have generated an xG of 6.59 over their last three matches but only managed to score once.

Meanwhile, the Reds' opponents had an xG of 5.39 but scored a total of 10 goals.

Taking to social media, The xG Philosophy wrote: "Last 3 matches: Liverpool (6.59) 1-10 (5.39) Opponents."

After the match, the pressure intensified on Slot, who is at the helm as Liverpool enter their worst run of form since 1953.

Arne Slot speaks out on Liverpool future after PSV defeat

When asked about his future after the match, the Dutchman stated that he retains the backing of the owners.

He said: "I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from above.

"It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked. I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around."

Liverpool will now have to dust themselves off ahead of this weekend's crucial Premier League clash against West Ham United at the London Stadium.
