Curtis Jones launched an x-rated attack with an honest assessment of Liverpool after another dire defeat.

The Reds suffered a ninth loss in their last 12 games on Wednesday night, having been blitzed 4-1 at home to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Liverpool were beaten 3-0 by Nottingham Forest on Saturday and looked to respond in Europe, where they had beaten Real Madrid not that long ago.

But they were 1-0 down early on after Ivan Perisic scored a penalty conceded by Virgil van Dijk for handball. Dominik Szobszlai equalised for Liverpool not long after but Arne Slot's men capitulated in the second half, with Couhaib Driouech bagging a brace after a strike from Guus Til.

Liverpool have conceded seven goals at Anfield in their last two games and 16 in their last seven matches in all competitions - with the team's confidence levels dropping to worrying levels.

After the defeat, Curtis Jones was on post-match media duty for Liverpool and could not hide his anger and disappointment - even admitting that his side "are in the s***" as he branded thr situation "unacceptable".

"I don't know, I don't have the answers - I'm the same as everybody else," a dejected Jones told RTE Sport.

"Just unacceptable if I'm honest. I don't even have the words. I'm past being angry and sad. I'm at a point now where I don't have the words and it's hard to actually find the words.

"I'm a player and a fan. From a long, long time I haven't experienced a team playing this bad and results are like this."

He added: "At the end of the day we've still got that badge on our chest so until that badge goes we're always going to fight and try and get this team back where it needs to be and show the whole world why Liverpool is the best team in the world."

"But as of now we're in the s**t and it needs to change."

Despite spending more than £400 million on new signings in the summer, Liverpool are in their worst run of form since 1950, with huge pressure piling on Arne Slot and a new favourite to replace him.

Reflecting on the crisis his side are in, he told TNT Sports: "I want to be positive about the reaction of the players after we went 1-0 down because until half time we played a good game."

“The only way to go is to go through. We have to face where we are in and fight really hard."

13th in the Champions League after five games and 12th in the Premier League, they return to action on Sunday when they travel to West Ham hoping to end this wretched period.
