Ismaila Sarr has already made his stance on joining Liverpool perfectly clear

Liverpool are making a late dash to sign Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr, and the Senegalese international has already revealed his stance on joining the club.

Throughout the transfer window, Liverpool have been left frustrated in their pursuit of a second attacking player after landing Victor Munoz for £34.5 million from Osasuna in June.

Bradley Barcola emerged as the Reds' top target, and he remains their dream signing, but the Merseyside giants are struggling to strike a deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG initially valued Barcola at an eye-watering £145m - a price Liverpool weren't willing to pay - and now they've lowered that to £120m.

A deal for the 23-year-old French international is now heading in a positive direction after a meeting was held between both parties yesterday, as they aim to make a breakthrough within the next 24 hours.

Beyond a transfer for Barcola, Liverpool have explored alternative options in case an agreement cannot be reached with the Champions League winners, and Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh was one of those.

The Anfield side had offers of £50m and £60m turned down for the right-sided winger, with the Seagulls understood to be holding out for around £80m for the 22-year-old.

Liverpool are unwilling to meet that valuation and have since turned their attention to Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr, who scored 21 goals in all competitions last term.

On Wednesday, the Reds saw a £50m offer rejected for the 28-year-old after also turning down two bids from Turkish giants Galatasaray, including one for £35m.

Like Minteh, Sarr is a powerful, right-sided winger with Premier League experience and is seen as a strong option to finally replace Mohamed Salah on the right flank.

But as it stands, Palace are adamant about keeping the forward and have security over the player's future since his deal at Selhurst Park doesn't expire until 2029.

Sarr is set to play a vital role in their Europa League campaign after helping them win the Conference League in May. However, a late dash from Liverpool could potentially turn his head towards Anfield.

Ismaila Sarr's previous comments on Liverpool

For many players, moving to a top club like Liverpool is a dream. They're rich in history, have a huge fanbase and can offer Champions League football.

Therefore, what Sarr said about Liverpool six years ago suggests he would be open to a switch. "Liverpool are a really great team - everyone would love to play there. Everyone would love to play at Anfield," he said in 2020.

The Reds are long-term admirers of the Senegalese speedster, having placed him on a three-man shortlist in the summer of 2020 when he was a Watford player alongside Canada forward Jonathan David and Diogo Jota, who eventually joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a £45m deal.

Liverpool will now have to pay well over £50m to finally get their hands on a player who they've had their eyes on for over half a decade, and they will have to move quickly to strike an agreement.

Andoni Iraola wants to sign two wingers before the September 1 deadline, and if Barcola is one, then there is a feeling Minteh or Sarr could be the other - it just all depends on whether Brighton or Palace are willing to lower their demands.
