Wahi is reportedly in advanced talks with Chelsea.

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a deal for Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, but fans have been left concerned by his wikipedia page.

Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Wahi this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano amid interest from Arsenal.

Romano tweeted: "Understand Chelsea are now advancing in talks to sign Elye Wahi — agreement getting closer, new negotiations round scheduled with Montpellier.

"Chelsea plan includes loan move for Wahi this season then CFC future.

"Chelsea want to accelerate next week as there’s competition."

However, some Blues supporters may be less supportive of a move after a quick browse of his wikipedia profile which doesn't make for great reading.

One Twitter user posted a screenshot of the wikipedia page in response to Romano's update, captioned: "Seems like a wonderful human being".

After some information about his club and international career, the page details two concerning events involving Wahi under the sub-heading 'controversy'.

It reads: "In October 2021, a 22-year old woman filed a legal complaint against Wahi for violence that resulted in her being incapable to work.

"She claimed that he had punched her in the nose during an evening out at the L'Entrepôt nightclub in Lattes, Hérault, on the night of 12–13 September a month earlier."

The following month, Wahi was allegedly expelled from Caen's academy, where he spent two years.

"In November 2021, it was revealed by investigative reporter Romain Molina that Wahi had been expelled from Caen's youth academy for allegedly pressuring secondary school students to masturbate in front of him in the bathrooms."

On the pitch, Wahi scored 19 goals in Ligue 1 last season, helping Montpellier to a 12th-place finish in the league.

While football scouting website Breaking The Lines have waxed lyrical about the player's ability, labelling him a "lethal threat".

“Wahi is a pacey striker who does excel in transitions, but his flexibility and range of finishing make him a lethal threat even for a deep-sitting side," their report read.

“The one touch finishing is exquisite, and he could be deadly in another counter-attacking side.”
