Morgan Rogers and Declan Rice aftermath emerges in new footage after furious bust-up

The aftermath of the bust-up between Morgan Rogers and Declan Rice has emerged in new footage not shown by the Sky Sports cameras.

England teammate Rogers and Rice were involved in a furious bust-up in the clash between Arsenal and Chelsea,

Rogers, who scored the opening goal in a 2-1 loss for the Blues, was incensed after a cynical trip from Rice during a Chelsea counter-attack.

Referee Chris Kavanagh did not give a free-kick and instead awarded a goal kick for Arsenal after Cole Palmer struck an effort over the bar.

Rogers got up off the turf and proceeded to shove Rice in a heated exchange. Both players went at one another, with teammates having to come in and separate.

Roges received a yellow card for his angry reaction, while Rice avoided any punishment.

Footage from the stands not picked up by the Sky Sports cameras showed that Rogers did not want to patch things up.

Rice spoke to Rogers when they were close together during the game and looked as if he was offering an explanation and trying to smooth things over.

However, Rogers was having absolutely none of it, animatedly putting his hands out and eventually wandering back into position as Rice still tried to talk to him.

Not too long after, Rogers was substituted and replaced by Danny Welbeck in the 87th minute and taunted by the Arsenal supporters.

As he walked on the touchline, the former Aston Villa forward was met with chants of, "You should have signed for a big club" and proceeded to smile at the song.

On commentary, Gary Neville was stunned by Rice getting away with his challenge on Rogers, saying, "I can't believe the referee hasn't seen it".

Mark Halsey, a former Premier League referee, weighed in with his view and provided an explanation of Rogers' caution.

He admitted that Rice's trip should have brought a yellow card and thought that the assistant referee would have been well placed to help out.

VAR was not able to intervene and correct the offence.

"Morgan Rogers made a great run through the middle and was tracked by Declan Rice – who clearly tripped him," Halsey said, speaking to The Sun.

"It was unseen by referee Chris Kavanagh and Morgan Rogers wasn’t happy.

"He went for Declan Rice and ended up getting a yellow card for adopting an aggressive attitude towards Rice. Declan Rice should have got the yellow card in the first place, which went unseen.

"Unfortunately, VAR cannot get involved in cautionary offenses, but you would have thought the assistant on that side may have seen it and may have helped him.

"It was unfortunate that Rogers got the yellow card, but with the aggressive attitude towards Rice, that’s the way it is."
