Over 240,000 FPL managers are making the same massive mistake ahead of GW5 fixtures
Nearly a quarter of a million FPL managers have made a costly mistake that could prove to be massively damaging in Gameweek Five.
After a thrilling four weeks of Premier League action, we are rapidly approaching the final gameweek before a three-week international break.
In light of this, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have some major decisions to make ahead of the deadline on Friday night, and it appears some of made a costly mistake by buying Chelsea star Joao Pedro.

FPL managers make brutal mistake as thousands buy Joao Pedro
Given his form for Chelsea so far this season, it's no surprise that many FPL managers are keen to get the striker into their teams if they haven't already.

Last week, Pedro put in another fantastic performance playing 90 minutes and scoring a second-half equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Hull, taking his points tally to 33 points with three goals and three assists in four appearances.
Because of this start to the season, the Brazilian is the second highest owned player in the entire game, behind only Erling Haaland, as 71.6% of managers currently have Pedro in their squads.
Clearly eager to jump on the hype train, 241,037 FPL managers decided to bring Pedro into their teams ahead of the Gameweek Five deadline to finally make the most of his run of form.
However, these managers have once again fallen into the common trap of making transfers far too early as just days before the start of Gameweek Five, it was revealed that the Chelsea striker has suffered a knee injury that could rule him out of this weekend's clash with Brentford.
News of Pedro's injury first emerged when it was confirmed that he had been taken out of Brazil's squad for upcoming friendlies against Australia and India, with Fluminense’s Martinelli called up in his place.
Later reports have suggested that Pedro's specific injury is an edema in his knee, caused by a sprain of the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments during last weekend's game against Hull City.
If this is the case, it could rule him out for at least 3.5 weeks, meaning he could be back in time for Chelsea's Gameweek Six fixture against Bournemouth on October 10.
Nevertheless, for the nearly quarter of a million managers who used a transfer to bring him in this week, news that he will be out for a what could be a high-scoring fixture against Brentford is the last thing they'd want to hear ahead of the international break.
Xabi Alonso provides confusing Joao Pedro injury update
However, in his final press conference before the Brentford clash, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso appeared to suggest that reports surrounding Pedro's injury could be misguided, as he refused to rule the Brazilian out of this weekend's fixture.
When asked about Pedro, the Chelsea boss replied: "In terms of injuries and the squad, we are having the last training session tomorrow so no one is ruled out for us for Friday.
"I prefer to be cautious. We will take the final decision on every player."
Despite this, it is widely expected that Danny Welbeck, who joined Chelsea in a surprise £5m deal this summer, will start up front against Brentford, giving Pedro time to recover from his injury.
