Man Messages Striker Who Won't Score For Him On Football Manager, He Actually Responds

We all have that player we want to do this to...

A Football Manager fan decided to take drastic action when his underperforming striker couldn't hit a barn door on the game.

We'll start from the beginning. Reddit user Fitzy dreamt of managing a second tier European club with a solid chance of gaining promotion, so he decided to take charge at Ligue 2 side RC Lens.

Fitzy barely looked at their squad before taking over but a predicted finish of 7th place prompted his interest.

Unfortunately for the gamer, things didn't get off to the best of starts when Cristian Lopez, a 29-year-old Spanish forward, struggled to find the net.

Fitzy decided enough was enough and contacted the former Real Madrid B and Huddersfield Town player on Twitter to ask for some advice.

"He was playing awfully for me, which to be fair was common for strikers for me back then, it must have been my tactics." Fitzy told SPORTbible.

"I felt like searching up my players and the club on Twitter to see more about them, and noticed Lopez had open DM's. I thought it'd be funny to message him about it, but I didn't think he'd reply."

The morning after he asked Lopez to start scoring more goals on Football Manager, the striker responded to his request in brilliant fashion.

"Give extra bonus for goal," he said. "Or put him on the bench for two games and for sure, he will be angry and score more."

Fitzy never expected a response from the 29-year-old, but his advice definitely came in handy.

"He replied the next morning, I found it funny. Funnily enough I never thought of the goal bonus thing, I've used it in all my strikers' contracts ever since. It was a great tip!" he said.

So, what happened next? Lopez didn't manage to find his goalscoring form on Football Manager and, unfortunately for all those expecting a fairytale ending, he was let go.

"I didn't offer him a new contract (which in turn meant he had no increased goal bonus)." Fitzy said.

"I was lacking in funds to strengthen my team so sent him on loan w/ a fee in January then sold him that summer."

We can imagine that many FM players will be considering the same course of action while self-isolating.
