"I think..." - Ferdinand makes bold Premier League title prediction as Man Utd ruled out

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has boldly claimed Arsenal will win the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently at the Premier League summit, some five points clear of last season’s champions Manchester City, having lost just one game.

However, the Gunners failed to sign either of their top two transfer targets in the January market. Arsenal had been pursuing winger Mykhailo Mudryk for months, only for the Ukrainian international to join Chelsea for some £89million.

Meanwhile, the club submitted two bids for Moises Caicedo worth up to £70million, but Brighton insisted their prized asset would not be sold mid-season.

Nevertheless, with the additions of Leandro Trossard, Jakub Kiwior and Jorginho Arsenal will be hoping to maintain their momentum for the remainder of the season.

Ferdinand makes his prediction

Arsenal have not won the Premier League since their famous ‘Invincibles’ season, while City boasts battle-hardened stars that have claimed four Premier League titles in five seasons.

The Gunners also still have to take on Pep Guardiola’s side twice in the league, after their scheduled clash for October was postponed so the north London side could fulfil their Europa League commitments in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Yet Ferdinand was insistent Arteta would lead Arsenal to their first title since 2004.

Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel: "I think it's a wrap. I've got to be honest, I do.

“No matter what results Arsenal get against Man City, I still think Arsenal have enough confidence, quality and calmness to take the title."

Ferdinand did not cite United as possible title winners despite the club’s resurgence in form.

Erik ten Hag’s side have been in imperious form since the re-start after the World Cup. However, the Old Trafford club are still some 11 points behind Arteta’s side.
