It is still possible that Marcus Rashford will leave Manchester United before the end of the summer window, according to a new report - and Barcelona could still have a say in the matter.
Rashford, who spent the entirety of last season on loan at the reigning La Liga champions, made a return to boyhood side United this month, joining up with Michael Carrick's squad at their pre-season camp in Ireland.
Last week, he made his first appearance for the club since December 2024 in a 4-2 defeat against Ruben Amorim's AC Milan.
Michael Carrick is reportedly open to the idea of using Rashford in the coming months, after Barcelona decided against activating the €30 million (£25.9m) buy option in his season-long loan deal.

Earlier this month, the England international appeared to pen a goodbye message to Barca, saying: "I'm very grateful to everyone at the club for making my time here such a positive and memorable experience."
However, it has now emerged that Barcelona are in contact with Rashford’s representatives, according to a report from TEAMtalk, which claims the Catalan giants remain 'firmly in the picture' as they assess their attacking options.

It is said a number of clubs have approached Rashford's team, although the finances involved in striking a deal have limited the number of suitors. Barcelona, meanwhile, are still in contact over what would be an unexpected return.
The report says: "Barcelona remain one of those suitors and sources have explained the remarkable scenario in which a return to Catalonia could still be finalised."
Last month, Hansi Flick voiced his appreciation towards Rashford following Barcelona's win over Birmingham City. He also admitted he will "miss" Rashford, who recorded 14 goals and 14 assists for the club last season.
"You don't know what happens with players who are on loan - our situation is not easy for that," said Flick. "But I appreciate working with him [Rashford]. He is a fantastic player and a fantastic person. The team miss him, I will miss him, but it is life."
Another European club 'ready to break the bank' for Marcus Rashford as contact made
Manchester United would prefer not to let Rashford join a rival in England, according to ESPN.
With that in mind, it was reported earlier this month that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are ready to 'break the bank' to bring him to Istanbul in a move that would undoubtedly be one of the biggest of the summer.
The 28-year-old's representatives have already been contacted by Fenerbahce over a possible move, according to a report from The Sun, which claims new manager Ismail Kartal will be backed as they look to challenge Galatasaray.
