Wrexham are reportedly ready to pursue a shock England international ahead of completing another record-breaking deal this summer.

After securing promotion for the third successive season after finishing second in the League One table, Wrexham have been busy in the transfer window ahead of their return to the Championship.

Deals for Danny Ward, Ryan Hardie, George Thomason, Josh Windass, Lewis O'Brien and Liberato Cacace have all been completed since the window opened.

So far, Wrexham owners Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds have spent over £10million this summer, with the signings of both Cacace and O'Brien breaking the club's previous transfer record.

But the Welsh side aren't going to stop there, as a new report has revealed that they are willing to break the bank once again to bring a England international to the club this summer.

Ever since their promotion to the Championship was confirmed, Wrexham have been linked with several Premier League stars, including the likes of Jamie Vardy and Tom Cairney.

A new report from The Daily Mail has now revealed that Conor Coady is the next top target for the Red Dragons.

It is claimed that Wrexham are currently trying to build a squad that is capable of making it to the Premier League in the next two years, and Coady's experience in the top-flight highly valued by club officials.

And with reports suggesting that Coady is set to leave current club Leicester City this season ahead of his contract expiring next year, a move to Wrexham doesn't appear to be out of the question.

The defender is said to be impressed by the progress Wrexham have made in recent seasons and agrees with their vision for the coming years.

But with Coady's extensive experience in the Premier League may mean they will have to spend big again in order to secure his signature.

Wrexham set to smash their transfer record for the third time this summer

According to East Anglian Daily Times, Wrexham have already agreed a deal to complete the signing of Ipswich Town forward Nathan Broadhead in a deal worth to be in the region of a stunning £7.5 million.

The report claims that a deal for the 27-year-old was agreed on Tuesday night, with Broadhead set to return to the Welsh club after playing for Wrexham's academy.

The winger scored 23 goals in 75 league appearances for the Tractor Boys, but has just one year left on his current contract.
