Wrexham set to smash their transfer record for the THIRD time this summer after fee agreed for star

Wrexham are set to break their transfer record.

Wrexham are set to smash their record transfer for a third time this summer to sign a star player, according to stunning reports.

Wrexham have been active during the transfer window this summer as they prepare for life in the Championship after securing three consecutive promotions.

They have snapped up Danny Ward, Ryan Hardie, George Thomason, Josh Windass, Lewis O'Brien and Liberato Cacace, but the club will be forced to sell up to seven players to comply with EFL regulations.

Defender Cacace arrived from Empoli and while the fee has not been disclosed, Wrexham were understood to be prepared to push beyond the Sam Smith fee (around £2 million) to land the New Zealand international.

And the club splashed the cash to recruit O'Brien from Nottingham Forest. It is thought that the deal cost £5 million.

Wrexham's summer spending spree is showing no signs of slowing down as the Welsh outfit are closing in on the signing of Ipswich Town forward Nathan Broadhead in a deal worth to be in the region of a whopping £7.5 million.

That's according to East Anglian Daily Times, who claim a deal was thrashed out on Tuesday night.

Broadhead, 27, was once in Wrexham's academy before coming through the ranks at Everton.

But he made just one Premier League appearance for the Toffees before signing for Ipswich in a transfer worth £1.5 million.

Broadhead played a key role in the club's back-to-back promotions but started just seven games last season.

The Welsh international, who has 14 caps to his name, is in the final year of his contract.

The winger scored 23 goals in 75 league appearances for the Tractor Boys.

Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have backed Phil Parkinson this summer as they open their 2025/26 campaign on August 9 when they face Southampton.

Once Broadhead comes through the doors at Wrexham, Reynolds and Mac have further addition on their radar ahead of their Championship opener against the Saints.

Kieffer Moore has been linked with a move to the Racecourse Ground, with Parkinson speaking out on the reports.

"Kieffer's under contract at Sheffield United. He's one of a number of players we've looked at over the summer," he explained

"Like I said, the landscape changes in the transfer market very quickly from one week to the next.

"We're looking at lots of options here and abroad."
