Xabi Alonso to Raid Premier League for Three Major Signings After Liverpool Loss

The Real Madrid head coach may move for the trident in the coming transfer windows, having already signed Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Xabi Alonso has reportedly set his sights on signing three Premier League midfielders as well as Paris Saint-Germain star Vitinha.

Alonso endured an unhappy return to England, having watched his Real Madrid side fall to a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League league phase on Tuesday.

Alexis Mac Allister’s headed goal on 61 minutes secured the points for Liverpool, and the Argentine’s performance seemingly impressed Alonso.

As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Mac Allister is part of a four-man wishlist put together by the Spaniard as he looks to add to his already impressive Los Blancos squad.

Currently, Alonso has an array of central midfielders at his disposal, including Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler, Fede Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, as well as understudy Dani Ceballos.

While all of the aforementioned players provide a range of attributes, Alonso still reportedly believes the side needs a ‘game-changing passer’ to move to the next level and unlock the very best defences in European football.

Fichajes reports that alongside Liverpool’s Mac Allister, Chelsea playmaker Enzo Fernandez, and Crystal Palace man Adam Wharton are among those of interest to Alonso.

The Basque manager is looking for a player who is renowned for his passing ability, and all four fit that profile.

Mac Allister’s Liverpool contract is set to run until June 2028, with Transfermarkt valuing him at nearly £90 million.

Fernandez’s Chelsea deal is set to run until 2032, with the website giving him a valuation of £70 million.

While Wharton, who is the youngest of the Premier League trio at 21, will see his Palace contract run out in 2029 and is valued at £52 million. The England international has also previously been linked with both Manchester United and Manchester City.

In October, Palace chairman Steve Parish told talkSPORT that Wharton will want to play “in the Champions League with us, if we can make that happen, or probably with another club” sooner rather than later.

As for Vitinha, who is valued at £79 million, his PSG deal is up in 2029. If Real do pursue any of the four players mentioned, it will likely be in the summer transfer window of 2026 rather than in January.

Los Blancos currently sit five points clear of Barcelona at the summit of La Liga ahead of their local derby away at Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
