Fans have suggested that a Liverpool player appeared to aim a gesture towards Trent Alexander-Arnold in their 1-0 Champions League victory against Real Madrid.
Ahead of the clash between Real Madrid and Liverpool, most of the media narrative was around Trent’s return to his boyhood club, having controversially traded life in Merseyside for a new challenge in Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup in June.
And, at least so far, life in Spain has not gone as well as the England international would’ve hoped, as he missed a significant period due to a hamstring injury he picked up against Marseille on September 16.
As a result, the right-back was forced to miss key games, including Real’s recent 2-1 win against Barcelona, for which he was an unused substitute.

Last weekend, Trent was also an unused substitute in Real’s 4-0 win against Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu before making his return to the pitch against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday.
With just under ten minutes of normal time to play, the 27-year-old replaced Arda Guler and was greeted with a chorus of boos from the majority of the 60,000 or so Liverpool supporters inside the stadium.
Several then began to sing a song about former captain Steven Gerrard as a dig towards the defender before he was jeered every time he touched the ball.

The negative reception was to be expected and was, no doubt, something Trent had prepared for once the fixture was announced. But what he might not have expected was one of his former teammates seemingly aiming a dig at him during the match.
Several social media users suggested that after scoring the only goal of the game, Alexis Mac Allister copied Trent’s celebration by putting one finger horizontally across two fingers pointing down.
And fans were quick to offer their thoughts on social media.

One said: “His name, his girlfriend’s name, and his baby girl’s name all begin with an A. Stop making everything about Trent.”
Another added: “Little moments like this make football so fun to watch.”
While a third claimed: “He's mocking Trent or what?”
A fourth suggested: "So many players do this, pretty sure it’s a reference to a football group chat."

As a fifth commented: "I would love if it was true but it’s for his daughter Alaia."
It must be noted that it is not clear what the reason behind Mac Allister’s celebration was, but it certainly amused Liverpool fans nonetheless.
Liverpool return to action against Manchester City on Sunday, while Real Madrid travel to city rivals Rayo Vallecano on the same day.
